Acupuncture originated in China and other far eastern cultures where it still features in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand-alone therapy and in combination with conventional western medicine. It is now widely used and accepted all over the world. In the UK more and more people are finding out what acupuncture can do for them.

Treatment involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points in the body to influence the flow of energy, referred to in Chinese Medicine as Qi.

Like conventional medicine, acupuncture aims to maintain your body’s equilibrium and thus optimum health. In our busy modern lives, our bodies’ energy, or Qi, can become blocked or depleted, which can result in pain, illness or simply a sense of being under the weather. By treating the whole person and not just the symptoms, acupuncture can be an effective therapy in restoring our vital balance, leading to physical and emotional harmony. And as each patient is diagnosed and treated as an individual, treatment may address other niggling health problems, with some people reporting an improvement in their sleep and stress levels, for example.  Click here for more information on what conditions can benefit from acupuncture.
